Head of Cleaning Services
About the department
Cleaning Services is a newly developing service with a clear focus on putting patients first. The team plays a vital role in supporting safe, high quality care by ensuring hospital environments are clean, hygienic, and welcoming for everyone who uses them. Working alongside clinical and operational colleagues, the department supports infection prevention, patient dignity, and the overall experience of care. Pride in the environment, attention to detail, and professionalism sit at the centre of the service.
About the role
As Head of Cleaning Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for all cleaning services across the organisation, ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance across multiple sites. This is a senior role with responsibility for governance, audits, service performance, and continuous improvement.
You will oversee cleaning managers and supervisors, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in line with regulatory and organisational requirements. You will be accountable for budgets, KPIs, and service quality, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain high standards and deliver value for money.
You will play a key role in driving performance, standardisation, and service development, acting as the senior escalation point for cleaning related matters and contributing to the wider success of the organisation through effective leadership and strong operational control.
About you
You are an experienced senior leader within cleaning, facilities, or soft services, with a proven track record of managing large, multi-site teams in a regulated or compliance driven environment. You are confident leading audits, managing performance, and ensuring services consistently meet high standards of quality and safety.
You are a strong people manager with a commercial mindset, experienced in budget management, contract oversight, and performance reporting. You communicate clearly at all levels, build effective working relationships, and remain organised and resilient in a fast paced environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence.
