Role Purpose
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception. You will work under the guidance of the EYFS lead and class teacher to support learning, social development, and behaviour management.
Key responsibilities include supporting children with SEN and EAL, fostering independence, and assisting in the delivery of play-based and structured learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in delivering the EYFS curriculum, combining play-based and structured learning approaches
Provide targeted support for one-to-one or small group activities, particularly for SEN and EAL children
Support early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and creative learning activities
Encourage positive behaviour, self-regulation, and social interaction
Help manage classroom routines, transitions, snack times, and outdoor activities
Observe, assess, and record pupil progress in line with EYFS objectives
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, external specialists, and parents
Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety standards
Support emotional wellbeing and development for all pupils
The Ideal Candidate
The school seeks a reliable, nurturing, and patient EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience in EYFS or early years settings
Demonstrates an understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
Has experience or willingness to work with SEN, EAL, and diverse learners
Is calm, empathetic, and consistent in approach
Shows excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Can adapt to the needs of a busy, multicultural classroom environment
