Year 4 Teaching Role in an Outstanding Primary School

An outstanding primary school in Barnet is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 4 Teacher to join its successful Key Stage 2 team from September. About the Role

You will take responsibility for a Year 4 class, delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the primary curriculum while ensuring that pupils make excellent academic and personal progress.

Year 4 is a key stage in pupils' development, helping them build on prior learning while developing greater independence, resilience, and depth of understanding across all curriculum areas. You will play a central role in strengthening literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills while fostering creativity and curiosity.

You will create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes high expectations, positive behaviour, and a love of learning.

Working closely with colleagues, teaching assistants, and parents, you will contribute to a collaborative culture focused on achieving the very best outcomes for every child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a Year 4 class across the full Key Stage 2 curriculum

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that inspire and challenge pupils

  • Support pupils in developing strong literacy, numeracy, and reasoning skills

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback to pupils and parents

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting procedures

  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and wider school initiatives

  • Support enrichment activities and the wider life of the school

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 2

  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • Commitment to raising attainment and supporting pupil wellbeing

Desirable

  • Experience teaching Year 4

  • Experience working in an outstanding or high-performing primary school

  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities

  • A commitment to wider school life and continuous professional development
