EYFS Teaching Assistant - Dagenham
We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Dagenham, starting as soon as possible. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and helping them develop essential skills for their first stage of formal education.
The school has a strong child-centred ethos, prioritising inclusion, collaboration, and pupil wellbeing. Staff work together to create a structured, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment where children feel confident, motivated, and safe. Senior leadership is approachable and provides mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to support staff success.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of children in Nursery and Reception. You will assist with delivering engaging lessons, supporting children individually and in small groups, and helping to create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality EYFS lessons and activities
Assist children in developing social, emotional, and academic skills
Provide individual and small group support as needed
Promote early communication, language, literacy, and numeracy skills
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
Observe, monitor, and contribute to assessments of children’s progress
Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Support daily routines, transitions, and personal care as required
Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

Have experience working in an EYFS or early years setting

Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable
Have a good understanding of the EYFS framework
Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and child wellbeing
