Role Description:

The EMEA Risk Officer – Conflicts of Interest provides independent second line oversight to ensure the firm meets evolving regulatory expectations across the EMEA region. The role supports regulatory compliance and risk governance under heightened scrutiny from regulators such as the ECB (via Joint Supervisory Teams), the PRA, and other national competent authorities.

This position is critical to maintaining strong second line oversight across the EMEA legal entities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent second line risk coverage related to conflicts of interest across EMEA.

  • Monitor and interpret EMEA regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.

  • Review and challenge LOB, control function, risk assessments, control design, and remediation plans.

  • Identify, escalate, and track material risks, themes, and residual risk concerns across legal entities.

  • Support regulatory exams and regulatory issue remediation, including review and challenge.

  • Engage with local legal entity leadership to support informed risk decisions.

  • Participating in EMEA and international governance forums

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Compliance and Operational Risk program

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to identify conflict of interest concepts.

  • Experience supporting EMEA legal entities within large, complex financial institutions.

  • Experience coordinating across multiple countries or legal entities with differing regulatory expectations.

  • Communication & Leadership Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex regulatory and risk concepts

  • Ability to prepare high quality materials for senior management and regulatory audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across first and second lines.

  • Sound professional judgment, integrity, and the confidence to provide constructive challenge.
