General Manager

Canvas Offices
London

Together, we are creating a personalised global eco system designed for the future of work.

With our values and pillars in mind, we design environments where people love to work. Spaces where people can create and be productive. Homes away from home. We embrace a win-win mindset with our friends of the brand and through hard work, innovation, and a low waste culture, we provide the best office space solutions for our clients.

However, it's not just about office space — our mission is to connect people to one another and to their neighbourhoods, strengthening community while maintaining privacy.

Joining our team is all about being part of a high growth, fast moving, and ambitious company. We're looking for people with a proactive approach, who are true team players, with a mindset that wants to help us scale in structured and creative ways.

About the Role

As a General Manager, you'd be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of several buildings in our portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Operations, and with your direct report (a Client Experience Manager), key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the existing offices and upcoming buildings

  • Oversee community management and client success

  • Own profit and loss (P&L) reports of your building portfolio and track each building's performance

  • Manage building operations including onboarding new customers and working with third-party contractors to ensure work is completed to a high standard

  • Support the company in achieving its growth objectives

  • Manage and mentor your Customer Experience Manager 'CEM', ensuring you're both effectively supporting your clients

  • Be available on call for escalations and emergencies outside of standard hours when required

  • Take ownership of six Canvas buildings in the Shoreditch area, ensuring consistent standards and performance across the portfolio

About You

You've got experience managing and mentoring a small team and a proven track record of owning a diverse portfolio of clients. You have a flexible mindset and a friendly, can-do approach. You have:

  • Minimum three years' experience within the commercial real estate sector

  • Experience managing the operations of an entire building

  • Experience coordinating and project managing, including budget management and working to tight deadlines

  • Customer service experience and reporting to support continuous improvement

Desirable

  • Ability to work in a start-up environment

  • Experience managing multiple sites within the co-working or building management industry

  • Events experience — we love hosting events for our clients, brokers and company

  • Collaborative mindset — experience working with Finance and Sales

  • Personable with the ability to liaise with a wide array of clients

  • A natural problem-solver for client queries
