HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We‘re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Risk Officer.
A key aspect of the role is to deliver balanced risk decisions for Private Equity backed, industry agnostic leveraged proposals. The role encompasses support to be provided to the Senior Risk Officer in the wider leadership of Leverage Finance approvals, deputizing where appropriate.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you will:
• Evaluate, recommend and approve transactions and annual reviews within personal approval authority
• Ensure prudent and well-structured credit proposals and minimise credit losses
• Provide qualitative, meaningful input and formulate, recommend, implement and maintain credit policies, guidelines, standards and processes
• Ensure all regulated requirements are enacted as ‘business as usual’
• Responsible for implementing credit risk policies, procedures and standards
• Responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day-to-day operations
• Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Demonstrate commercial credit skills, not only on a transaction basis but also credit process management
• General knowledge of legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements
• Specific knowledge of Private Equity backed/Leverage Finance transactions would be an advantage
• Knowledge of local and regional landscape and external market forces
• Well-rounded banking background particularly Corporate banking, credit and operational processes is preferred
• Strong communication skills – verbal and written
• Management and Leadership skills
