ROLE SUMMARY:

Inspired Education Group is seeking an experienced, dynamic and inspirational Head of Performing Arts to join one of its international schools in Central Europe from August 2026.

This is a senior academic leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, development and delivery of the Performing Arts provision across the secondary phase (and, where relevant, upper primary). The successful candidate will lead a high-quality programme encompassing disciplines such as Drama, Music and/or Theatre, fostering creativity, confidence and performance excellence within an international, student-centred environment.

The role would suit an accomplished Performing Arts educator and leader with a strong vision for the arts, a commitment to high academic and artistic standards, and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Performing Arts department.

  • Lead the development and delivery of a coherent, high-quality Performing Arts curriculum aligned with international best practice.

  • Teach Performing Arts (Drama, Music and/or Theatre) across relevant secondary programmes.

  • Promote high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and performance outcomes.

  • Lead, mentor and support Performing Arts staff, including performance management and professional development.

  • Oversee departmental planning, assessment practices and resource management.

  • Organise and lead performances, productions, concerts and events that enrich school life.

  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute to whole-school initiatives.

  • Promote student participation, creativity and confidence through curricular and co-curricular programmes.

  • Model and uphold the values of the Inspired Education ethos and international-mindedness.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

  • A degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Music or a closely related field, plus a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Significant experience teaching Performing Arts at secondary level.

  • Proven experience in a leadership or coordination role within Performing Arts.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for creative and performing disciplines.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

  • A collaborative, student-centred approach and commitment to inclusive education.

  • Legal right to live and work in the host country or an EU passport.

Desirable:

  • Experience within an international school setting.

  • Familiarity with IB programmes (MYP and/or DP) or other international curricula.

  • A track record of leading successful performances or productions.

  • Experience contributing to whole-school arts strategy or enrichment programmes.

  • Ability to teach across more than one Performing Arts discipline.
