Financial Manager Croydon CR0 4HA Full-time, Permanent Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 depending on experience Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview

Apollogrid is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to take full ownership of the financial operations for our UK entity. You will oversee all accounting, payroll, reporting, and tax matters, ensuring full compliance with UK standards while providing accurate and timely reporting to our headquarters in China.

This hands-on role requires strong technical accounting expertise, excellent payroll knowledge, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and fluency in Mandarin Chinese for daily communication with HQ.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the full spectrum of financial operations for the UK entity, including accounting, payroll, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance

* Take ownership of UK payroll processes, including PAYE, National Insurance, RTI filings, pensions, and statutory deductions

* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP

* Provide financial analysis and commercial insights to support business decisions and HQ reporting requirements

* Ensure full compliance with UK statutory requirements, audit processes, and internal controls

* Maintain close communication with the finance team at headquarters in China and deliver timely financial and payroll updates

* Support cash flow management, cost control, and financial planning

* Work hands-on initially, with the opportunity to build and manage a small finance team as the UK business grows

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic initiatives

Requirements

* Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)

* Proven experience in financial management or senior accounting roles in the UK

* Strong practical knowledge of UK payroll processes, including PAYE, NIC, RTI, and pension auto-enrolment

* Solid understanding of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory compliance

* Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is essential (both written and spoken) for effective daily communication with HQ

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a practical, hands-on approach

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

* Experience working for a Chinese company or in a cross-border organisation is highly desirable

* Potential to lead and develop a small finance team as the business expands
