Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today’s challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future.

Our platform orchestrates millions of real-time decisions across homes, devices, markets and grids. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable, affordable and adaptive to everyday life.

With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.

What will I be doing?

You’ll play a pivotal role in evolving and elevating our internal developer platform to empower our software teams. Beyond day-to-day platform engineering, you'll take ownership of technical decisions, drive best practices across teams, eliminate complex infrastructure toil, reinforce enterprise security safeguards, and optimize cloud operations at scale.

  • Engineering Foundations: Design and build a scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly platform that sets the standard for seamless software development and operations.
  • Automation & Tooling: Drive self-service tooling and abstractions to hide platform complexity from developers, drastically improving developer experience and team velocity.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Lead the use of Terraform, Helm, and Crossplane to automate provisioning and champion GitOps best practices across all cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Establish robust monitoring, logging, and tracing foundations in close collaboration with the wider Site Reliability Engineering function.
  • Security & Reliability: Embed automated security controls, ensure compliance, and participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota to troubleshoot and solve complex, systemic issues.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor engineers in the team, foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to coordinate technical upgrades, and hold service providers accountable.

About You

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Strong experience designing, building, and operating production applications at scale.
  • Excellent technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a passion for mentoring others.
  • Deep expertise with cloud platforms like AWS (preferred), Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience architecting, managing, and maintaining production Kubernetes clusters.
  • A deep understanding of distributed systems and resiliency patterns.
  • Proven expertise with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps patterns, and Infrastructure as Code technologies.

Where you'll work

We offer flexible working, with a requirement of 3 days a week in the office. This gives us the best of both: real time together to collaborate and build relationships, with the flexibility to work in the way that suits you best the rest of the week.
