Head of Product (SME) - 12 Month FTC
About the role
As Head of Product (SME), you will define, develop and execute Superscript’s SME product strategy and roadmap, ensuring clear alignment with commercial objectives and long-term business growth. You will own the end to end SME product function, leading a high-performing team to deliver market leading solutions that drive revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Overseeing multiple product lines, you will balance exceptional customer experience with strong commercial performance and scalable operational delivery. You will be accountable not only for product innovation and execution, but for delivering measurable business outcomes and exceeding performance expectations.
As a senior leader, you will build, inspire and scale a high-performing product organisation, fostering a culture of ownership, pace, accountability and continuous improvement. Your leadership will influence internal stakeholders across Superscript and external insurers and partners, ensuring alignment, strong collaboration and effective roadmap execution.
What you'll get up to:
Develop, communicate and execute a clear, data-driven SME product strategy and multi-horizon roadmap aligned to Superscript’s commercial objectives and growth ambitions.
Translate business strategy into a prioritised roadmap that drives revenue growth, margin improvement, customer retention and operational scalability.
Partner with leadership to ensure the SME product portfolio delivers against financial targets and exceeds performance expectations.
Identify and capitalise on market opportunities, leveraging customer insights, market research, competitive intelligence and insurer capabilities to inform innovation and differentiation.
Drive innovation through omni-channel distribution, embedded opportunities and strategic insurer partnerships and distribution partners to position Superscript as a leader in SME insurance.
Define and embed prioritisation frameworks to ensure initiatives are selected based on commercial impact, customer value and return on investment.
Champion the voice of the customer while maintaining strong commercial discipline and focus on sustainable growth.
Product development and commercial execution:
Own and drive execution of the SME roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, commercially impactful products.
Be accountable for product performance, continuously monitoring KPIs and driving interventions to meet and exceed agreed targets.
Manage the full SME product portfolio, balancing customer-facing innovation with operational, underwriting and capability optimisation.
Embed rigorous validation, experimentation and iteration processes to ensure strong product-market fit and commercial viability.
Drive pace, focus and accountability within the product lifecycle, ensuring delivery excellence and measurable outcomes.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, using data, insight and feedback to optimise performance and unlock incremental value.
Team leadership and product management excellence:
Lead, inspire and scale a high-performing product team, setting clear expectations and driving a culture of accountability, ownership and ambition.
Build strong people leadership capability within the team, developing future leaders and ensuring robust succession planning.
Mentor and develop all levels of product managers to operate at a high strategic and commercial level, with clear progression pathways and performance standards.
Set and uphold high performance standards, ensuring the team consistently exceeds expectations and delivers against ambitious goals.
Ensure the team has the right talent, capability, tools and processes to deliver Superscript’s SME vision at scale.
Promote a culture of pace, resilience, innovation and continuous learning, integrating industry best practice.
Communication and stakeholder management:
Influence and align senior stakeholders across the business to ensure clarity of direction, prioritisation and commercial focus.
Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with insurer partners, influencing product development, underwriting appetite and innovation to support roadmap execution.
Balance competing stakeholder priorities while maintaining focus on strategic objectives and commercial outcomes.
Champion transparent communication, ensuring product strategy, trade offs and performance are clearly articulated.
Establish structured engagement and governance processes to drive alignment, accountability and momentum across teams and partners.
Act as a visible SME product leader both internally and externally, representing Superscript with credibility and authority.

Proven senior product leadership experience with accountability for commercial performance and target delivery.
Strategic execution focus, able to translate business objectives into a clear, outcome-driven roadmap.
Strong commercial acumen, experienced in driving revenue growth, margin performance and measurable business impact.

Champion and role model of Superscript’s values.
Deep understanding of SME insurance, insurtech dynamics and insurer partnership models.
Experience working closely with underwriting teams and insurer partners to shape propositions and risk appetite.
Expertise in agile product development methodologies and modern product management practices.
Data-driven decision maker with strong analytical capability.
Proven experience managing full product lifecycles from ideation to scale.
Strong cross functional collaborator, aligning engineering, data, underwriting, marketing, commercial and operations teams.
High resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Confident external representative, able to build credibility with partners and stakeholder s.
