The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.

You’ll be joining the MOPAC Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance, a well-respected unit that has the interesting and challenging job of providing the internal audit service for a number of clients including the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Greater London Authority.

You will lead a team of auditors, helping to ensure effective and efficient services are delivered to Londoners through the provision of first-class assurance, counter fraud and advisory services. Our wide-ranging client base provides opportunities for you to really make a difference, through delivery of complex reviews across a range of operational and strategic areas. You will work with senior stakeholders, helping to identify key business risks, evaluate and test their controls and identify areas of improvement.

A good level of practical internal auditing experience is essential and will be supported by a recognised qualification in Internal Auditing or Accountancy (at least CMIIA, CCAB, CIMA or overseas equivalent) together with membership of the appropriate professional body. You’ll be someone who has a thorough understanding of risk-based auditing, and the personal qualities and credibility to operate effectively as a representative of MOPAC and the Directorate.

1. Please outline your knowledge of risk-based auditing and Internal Audit standards and procedures. (Essential requirement for role)

2. Please outline your experience of managing and delivering audit assignments, including planning, fieldwork and communicating findings. (Delivers quality outcomes to meet objectives)

3. Describe how you have used critical thinking skills during a complex risk-based audit to evaluate information and to form a conclusion. (Manages work through informed and reliable judgement)

4. Explain how you have developed and managed working relationships with clients in order to achieve audit objectives . (Develops effective communications and working relationships)

5. Describe your approach to managing and developing audit teams. (Provides strong leadership)

Political Restriction

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security checks. Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the UK and have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?

We operate a hybrid working model with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average, staff will work 1-2 days a week from an Office Hub, which may differ depending on the role requirements.
