EYFS Teaching Assistant - Richmond

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Richmond. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children during the most important stage of their early development and learning.
The successful candidate will work closely with the EYFS teaching team to support learning across the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. You will assist with whole-class activities, small group learning, and one-to-one support where required. A strong focus will be placed on supporting children’s communication, language, social skills, and emotional development.
You will help to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and independence. Supporting children through structured activities and play-based learning will be central to your role, as will observing and recording progress to support assessment and planning.
You will work collaboratively with teachers, other support staff, and parents to ensure children feel secure, confident, and ready to learn. The role requires patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of early childhood development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum
Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development
Assist in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Observe and record children’s progress and development
Support children’s personal, social, and emotional needs
Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
The successful candidate will have:
Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS setting
Knowledge of child development and early learning principles
A calm, caring, and patient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
