Digital Communications Co-ordinator

About this Role

The CWU is one of the top ten trade unions by size in the UK and is the biggest union for the communications industry with approximately 185,000 members.

The Department and Role:

• The Digital Communications Co-ordinator works under the direction of the Head of Communications.

• The Communications Department is dedicated to keeping members, activists and the public – through internal communications, external communications and through the media – up to date with the CWU’s activities, and supporting the Union’s industrial communications. The department is responsible for the public image and profile of the Union.

Responsibilities of our Digital Communications Co-ordinator

• Actively seek stories on key issues to include CWU Live, conducting research to ensure accuracy

• Script, record, edit and deliver video features for CWU Live and wider work

• Working with senior internal and external stakeholders to source content for delivery and ensuring vision and requirements are made film worthy

• Coaching and guiding CWU representatives through speaking on CWU Live and through interviews on subject matters

What we are looking for in our Digital Communications Co-ordinator

• likely to hold a specialist qualification in creative writing, film studies or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience

• knowledge of the CWU’s industrial and political aims

• experience of working in a communications/media team scripting content, recording and using a range of recording tools

• experience of promoting content through social media

• experience of film making and the end to end process of this
