Reception Teacher - Sutton
A popular primary school in Sutton is looking to appoint a warm and creative Reception Teacher to begin in January 2026. The Reception Teacher will lead a play-based curriculum that promotes language, early mathematics and personal development, ensuring every child has a strong start to school life. Sutton’s school is proud of its outdoor spaces, experienced support staff and focus on early assessment and observation; the Reception Teacher will be supported with a structured induction prior to January 2026.

The successful Reception Teacher will plan rich learning environments, track progress carefully and work closely with parents to support children’s development. This Reception Teacher role will be central to the school’s EYFS leadership and to transition planning into Year 1.
Responsibilities
- Create stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that promote exploration and learning.
- Use observation and assessment to plan purposeful next steps for each child.
- Lead transition work with Year 1 colleagues and maintain strong parental partnerships.
- Support colleagues in consistent EYFS approaches across the setting.
- Promote children’s wellbeing, communication and independence through high-quality provision.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with demonstrable Reception/EYFS experience.
- Secure knowledge of the Early Learning Goals and strong assessment practice.
- Warm, organised and collaborative, with an ability to build trust with families.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and to contributing to Sutton’s school community.
- Able to start in January 2026 and to be based in Sutton.
