Linux / Oracle Systems Administrator

Robert Half are with a Global Financial Services Organisation to recruit for a Linux / Oracle Systems Administrator (Banking) based in London on an initial 24 Month Fixed Term Contract for a Global Financial services Organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and optimise Oracle databases for core banking applications (Flexcube), ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Manage and maintain Linux and AIX servers hosting financial systems.
• Perform OS and database upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with senior IT staff and external specialists for planning and requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting banking services.
• Implement and monitor backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard.
• Automate routine tasks via shell scripting and configuration management tools.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and regulatory standards.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Provide on-call support and incident response for production environments.
• Document procedures, configurations, and operational runbooks.

Experience:

• 7+ years in Oracle DBA roles (including RAC, ASM, performance tuning)
• Strong command of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.
• 5+ years with Linux (RHEL/Oracle Linux) and AIX.
• Experience with IBM Power systems
• Shell scripting (Bash, Korn) and automation tools
• Monitoring tools (OEM, Nagios) and log analysis
• Banking and financial systems architecture.
• Experience with Flexcube environments.
