Technical Lead (Mobile - Flutter) in Greater London

Transport Exchange Group (TEG) is seeking a Technical Lead – Mobile (Flutter) to take ownership of our mobile app ecosystem. You’ll lead architecture, development, and delivery across our mobile platforms, ensuring high-quality, secure, and robust solutions that directly enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities:
As Technical Lead, Mobile, you’ll provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all aspects of mobile development:
Technical Ownership & Delivery
- Act as technical owner of all Mobile Team applications
- Translate business requirements into implementation tasks, ensuring delivery against the definition of done
- Write clean, well-structured, testable, and performant code in Dart using the Flutter framework
- Apply and enforce secure coding and architectural best practices
- Lead coding standards, review processes, and automated test coverage
- Manage release cycles and deployments, ensuring stability and minimal disruption
- Quickly resolve production issues, conducting in-depth root cause analysis
- Drive effective use of AI coding tools to enhance productivity
Collaboration & Leadership
- Mentor and coach team members through 1:1s and technical guidance
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps, product managers, designers, and QA to deliver high-quality mobile solutions
- Champion team focus on top priorities and proactively remove blockers
- Represent the mobile team in senior technical discussions and planning sessions
Skills and Experience Required:
- 10+ years of experience in mobile development, with 5+ years in commercial Flutter development
- 2+ years in a technical leadership role, mentoring and guiding engineering teams
- Proficiency in native mobile development (Android or iOS) with 3+ years of commercial experience
- Expert in Flutter architecture, state management, widget testing, and store deployment workflows
- Experience with REST APIs, real-time communication (e.g., WebSockets), and microservices integration
- Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge—Firebase and AWS
- Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
- Proficient in TDD (and familiar with BDD) within Flutter environments
- Experienced with tools like Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, and Confluence
- Deep understanding of computer science principles and mobile development best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Firebase Crashlytics
- Exposure to OneSignal and server-driven UI design
