Caretaker - Croydon
A well-established and inclusive secondary school in Croydon is seeking a dependable and proactive Caretaker to join its premises team. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to an individual with practical skills and a strong sense of responsibility for maintaining a safe and welcoming learning environment.
About the School

The premises team plays a crucial role in ensuring that the site is safe, secure, and fully operational each day. The Caretaker will work closely with the Site Manager and wider staff to support the smooth running of the school.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Open and close the school premises, including operating alarm systems and conducting security checks.
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs across the site.
Ensure the buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Conduct regular health and safety checks, including fire safety equipment inspections.
Assist with room setups for exams, events, assemblies, and meetings.
Liaise with contractors and oversee works carried out on site.
Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, or maintenance role is desirable.
Practical skills in general repairs and building maintenance.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a school or public setting.
Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
