About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the effective management of the school site, ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee maintenance operations, contractor management, compliance checks, site security, health and safety procedures, and planned improvement projects.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, practical knowledge, and the ability to manage competing priorities while ensuring the school remains a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation and maintenance of the school site
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Oversee contractors, repairs, and planned maintenance programmes
Manage site security, access control, and emergency procedures
Complete regular inspections and maintain compliance records
Support facilities planning, procurement, and budget management
Coordinate site improvements and refurbishment projects
Ensure the school environment remains safe and welcoming

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in site, premises, estates, or facilities management
Strong knowledge of building maintenance and health and safety procedures
Experience managing contractors and maintenance schedules
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational setting
IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within schools
Experience managing improvement projects and facilities budgets
