The Opportunity
A market-leading, multi-site distribution business is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to take ownership of inventory performance across its UK network. This is a pivotal role ensuring stock accuracy, availability, and process efficiency across several depots, with responsibility for managing a small team and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Inventory Manager will oversee all aspects of inbound planning, stock control, and intersite transfers across multiple locations. You will ensure optimal stock availability and accuracy while supporting business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead depot inbound capacity planning and control across domestic and imported deliveries.
- Manage intersite transfers to maintain stock availability in line with customer demand.
- Work closely with Warehouse and Operations Managers to ensure robust inventory processes.
- Analyse and address root causes of stock variances, driving corrective and preventive action plans.
- Produce and interpret daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to highlight trends and opportunities.
- Oversee stock audits, including annual stock takes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with purchasing, supply chain, and commercial teams to resolve supplier or product issues.
- Continuously review and improve stock control procedures and reporting tools.
About You
You'll be an analytical and detail-oriented leader, comfortable working across multiple sites and teams in a fast-paced logistics environment. With a natural ability to challenge existing processes and drive improvement, you'll combine strong communication skills with a logical, methodical approach.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in inventory or warehouse operations within a multi-site or distribution environment.
- Proven ability to manage and improve stock accuracy and control processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced Excel capability.
- Confident communicator, able to influence and build relationships across multiple functions.
- Comfortable with travel between sites (weekly and monthly UK travel required).
