What role you will play in our team

If successful, you will be an integral part of our Global Trading organization, supporting commercial and trading activities across European biofuels and global renewable fuels markets. We are seeking a highly motivated analyst with strong market fundamentals, analytical capabilities, and regulatory expertise to develop market insights, supply and demand assessments, and forward-looking market views that support trading, risk management, and commercial decision-making.

In this role, you will work closely with traders, commercial teams, policy specialists, and other market analysts to evaluate market fundamentals, regulatory developments, feedstock dynamics, and emerging trends across the biofuels value chain. You will contribute to the development of actionable market intelligence that enables trading strategies, identifies commercial opportunities, and supports growth across ExxonMobil's renewable fuels business.

What you will do

  • Monitor and analyze European biofuels, feedstocks, renewable fuels, and low-carbon energy markets to identify market trends, commercial opportunities, and key risks.
  • Develop and maintain supply, demand, trade flow, and pricing forecasts to support trading strategies, portfolio management, and risk assessment activities.
  • Analyze market fundamentals, production economics, feedstock availability, and value chain dynamics across biodiesel, renewable diesel, SAF, ethanol, and other renewable fuel markets.
  • Assess the impact of European and national regulatory frameworks, including RED III, FuelEU Maritime, ReFuelEU Aviation, ETS II, and other emerging decarbonization policies.
  • Monitor legislative, policy, and regulatory developments affecting renewable fuels, compliance markets, sustainability requirements, and certification schemes.
  • Evaluate the commercial implications of evolving regulations and provide timely insights on market impacts, opportunities, and risks.
  • Partner closely with traders to develop market views, identify trading opportunities, and support strategy development through fundamental market analysis.
  • Deliver short-, medium-, and long-term market outlooks supporting trading, commercial positioning, and portfolio decision-making.
  • Produce regular market reports, presentations, and commentary that communicate complex market developments in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Track competitor activity, industry developments, infrastructure expansions, and emerging market trends impacting biofuels and renewable fuels markets.
  • Collaborate with trading, analytics, policy, and commercial teams to ensure alignment between market intelligence and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external market participants to enhance market understanding and intelligence gathering.
  • Support ad hoc commercial analysis, strategic assessments, and special projects as required by the trading organization.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Markets, Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of European biofuels, renewable fuels, feedstocks, and low-carbon energy markets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biofuels market fundamentals, including supply and demand drivers, production pathways, feedstock economics, trade flows, and pricing dynamics.
  • Experience analyzing regulatory and policy frameworks impacting European renewable fuels markets, including RED III, FuelEU Maritime, ReFuelEU Aviation, national compliance schemes, and related decarbonization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex market, regulatory, and commercial information into actionable insights.
  • Experience developing market forecasts, supply and demand balances, pricing outlooks, or other analytical frameworks supporting commercial decision-making.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to identify market opportunities and support trading decisions through data-driven analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex market developments clearly to both commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced trading environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience utilizing market intelligence platforms, analytical tools, and data sources to support market analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience supporting biofuels trading, renewable fuels trading, commodity trading, or commercial organizations.
  • Knowledge of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel (HVO), biodiesel, ethanol, e-fuels, or broader energy transition markets.
  • Experience developing market intelligence, forecasting models, or commercial analytics related to renewable fuels and feedstocks.
  • Familiarity with European compliance markets, sustainability certification systems, and greenhouse gas accounting methodologies.
  • Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools to generate market insights and support commercial decisions.
  • Understanding of global biofuels trade flows, renewable fuel economics, and cross-commodity market relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence commercial decisions through high-quality market analysis and strategic recommendations.
