Weekend Pottery Technician
Description
Freelance position 16 hours per week Saturday & Sundays in Hammersmith from 9.30-6.30pm £15ph with 60 minutes unpaid lunch.
Duties to include:
- Cleaning studio, washing aprons, hoovering and mop, clean surfaces, wash sink trap.
- Boards/tools/equipment cleaned and put back in storeroom or place of origin.
- Recycle clay using a pugmill and plaster bat.
- Remove glaze from kiln shelves, use an angle grinder, training provided.
- Batt wash shelves with ready made batt wash.
- Mix glazes in dry quantity from glaze recipes, ensuring safe practice by wearing a P100 mask (must purchase own mask for hygiene purposes). Paper masks and latex gloves are provided.
- Mixing of glazes using a glaze mixer.
- Must be able to lift a bag of clay:12.5kg load and record sales.
- Loading/unloading of kilns and safe operating of kilns.
- Add a date label to the bisque/glazed work when it comes out of the kiln.
- Storage of work unloaded from kiln to correct shelf/tasters/courses/members
- Professional teaching of tasters/parties/private throwing sessions up to 6 people at agreed rate of pay £15 per hour/ teaching & organisation of 4/8 weeks courses at agreed rate of pay £25 per hour.
- Storing of tasters/courses in correct boxes labelled with course code or month of taster.
- Creating a list of tasters when ready to collect.
