At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions , we deliver safe, sustainable geotechnical and groundwork services that support essential infrastructure projects across the UK.
We’re looking for a practical, reliable Ground Worker with Street Works experience to support excavation, reinstatement, and utility-related works (MER) across active sites in London and surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you’ll work alongside experienced site teams, develop specialist skills, and play a key part in delivering high-quality reinstatement and excavation works.
What you’ll do;
You’ll support site teams in delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality Street Works and groundwork operations, including:
Supporting mobilisation of tools, plant, equipment, and materials to and from site
Preparing worksites for Street Works activities, including setting up barriers, signage, and safe pedestrian/diversion routes
Assisting with excavation works , including trial holes, service exposure, and manual digging
Carrying out reinstatement works , including backfilling, compaction, layering, and surface finishes to specification
Supporting compliance with New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) requirements
Operating basic tools and small equipment such as compactors, breakers, shovels, and wheelbarrows
Maintaining safe, clean, and well-organised working areas at all times
Following RAMS, permits, and strict HSE procedures on every site
Participating in toolbox talks, daily briefings, and safety checks
Working closely with the site team to keep works on programme

What we’re looking for;
Previous experience in groundworks, utilities, Street Works, or construction labouring
Working knowledge of excavation and reinstatement processes
Understanding of safe digging practices around utilities/services
Ability to use hand tools and basic site equipment safely and effectively
Strong awareness of site health & safety and compliance requirements
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
CSCS Card essential
NRSWA Street Works Modules (Excavation & Reinstatement) essential
Desirable
Experience in utilities, highways, paving, tarmacking, or landscaping
Experience with small plant or machinery (e.g. whacker plate, breaker)
First Aid or other site safety qualifications
