We are seeking a professional, approachable and highly organised Receptionist to join a respected secondary school in Islington. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable individual who enjoys working in a busy school environment and takes pride in delivering a high standard of front-of-house and administrative support. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors, parents, carers, students and external agencies, and will play a key role in ensuring the reception area runs efficiently and professionally at all times.
The school is looking for someone with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and a calm, helpful manner. You will need to be confident handling a wide range of enquiries, both in person and by telephone, while maintaining a welcoming and professional presence. This role would suit someone who is able to multitask effectively, manage competing priorities and work with discretion in a school setting where safeguarding, confidentiality and accuracy are essential.
As Receptionist, you will be responsible for greeting visitors, managing calls and emails, dealing with deliveries, maintaining visitor logs, supporting student sign-in and sign-out procedures and assisting with general administrative tasks. You will also support school events, liaise with staff across departments and help ensure that the administrative side of daily school life runs smoothly. The role requires someone who is dependable, efficient and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.

Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, carers and external agencies
• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct enquiries appropriately
• Respond to emails and general reception queries in a professional and timely manner
• Maintain accurate visitor records in line with safeguarding and security procedures
• Support student sign-in and sign-out arrangements
• Handle incoming and outgoing post, parcels and deliveries
• Provide general administrative support to the wider office team
• Assist with the preparation of letters, documents and school communications
• Maintain a tidy, welcoming and efficient reception area
• Support with school events and other operational tasks when required
Requirements:
• Previous experience in a receptionist, customer service or administrative role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, calm and welcoming manner
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• School-based experience is desirable but not essential
