Are you an imaginative and dedicated Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Art and Design, ready to start your professional journey in a supportive and creatively focused secondary school? Our client, a vibrant school located in the diverse borough of Hammersmith , is seeking an enthusiastic Art and Design ECT to join their flourishing Arts faculty. This role offers excellent mentorship within the Inner London pay zone.
The Vitals: What You'll Be Doing
This full-time role is structured to immerse you in effective teaching practice, focusing on developing your skills in delivering engaging, practical, and theoretical Art and Design instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Delivery: Teach Art and Design (which may include Fine Art, Textiles, or 3D Design) across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and GCSE (KS4) , encouraging creativity and technical proficiency.
- ECT Induction: Fully participate in the school’s comprehensive ECT Induction Programme , benefiting from regular training, observation, and dedicated non-contact time for planning and reflection.
- Studio Management: Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and inspiring art studio environment, managing materials and resources effectively.
- Curriculum Engagement: Plan and deliver dynamic lessons that explore diverse mediums, art history, and critical analysis, fostering a love for creative expression.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with your assigned departmental mentor and the wider Arts team to share ideas and continually refine your pedagogy.
Candidate Profile: What We're Looking For
This position is ideal for a newly or recently qualified teacher with a strong portfolio, excellent practical skills, and a commitment to nurturing student talent.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualification: A degree in Art and Design or a related creative discipline (e.g., Fine Art, Textiles, Graphics).
- Certification: Hold, or be expecting to successfully complete, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) upon taking up the post.
- Status: Must be eligible to begin or continue the Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction period.
- Skills: High potential as a classroom practitioner, strong practical skills across a range of media, and excellent communication abilities.
