You would be joining a highly successful English department within an Outstanding School that has created a culture where reading, writing and communication are central to students' academic development. The department has high expectations and encourages students to become confident readers, thoughtful writers and articulate communicators.
At Key Stage 3, students are introduced to a broad range of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama, allowing them to develop strong analytical and written communication skills. At GCSE, students are supported through a challenging programme of English Language and English Literature, with opportunities to study a wide range of texts and develop sophisticated interpretations.
The Sixth Form also offers English Literature, providing an opportunity for an experienced teacher to contribute to A-Level teaching and support students preparing for university and further study.
The department benefits from excellent resources, a strong reading culture and regular opportunities for students to participate in creative writing, debating, literary competitions and theatre visits. Teachers work closely together on curriculum development, assessment and intervention to ensure students of all abilities are appropriately challenged and supported.
The School offers excellent professional development, an established ECT programme and opportunities to take on additional responsibilities. Experienced teachers will be encouraged to contribute to curriculum development and wider departmental initiatives.

English Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
English Degree
QTS
Experience teaching English at secondary level
Strong knowledge of English Language and Literature
GCSE teaching experience essential
A-Level experience desirable
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to student achievement and inclusion
Salary
The salary for this English Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
