A Lower Key Stage 2 Role Where You Can Make a Real Impact
We are looking to appoint a motivated and confident Year 3 Teacher to join a well-regarded primary school in Richmond, starting as soon as possible. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with pupils at the beginning of Key Stage 2, supporting them as they develop independence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of core subjects.
Year 3 is a vital transition year, and the school is seeking a teacher who understands the importance of maintaining a nurturing approach while introducing greater structure and academic challenge. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, well-sequenced lessons that build on pupils’ Key Stage 1 foundations and prepare them for the expectations of KS2.
The school has a strong reputation for inclusive practice, supportive leadership, and a positive working environment. Staff are encouraged to collaborate, share ideas, and continually develop their practice through reflection and professional development.
Your Role in the School
As the Year 3 Teacher, you will take full responsibility for your class, planning and delivering lessons across the curriculum while adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners. You will work closely with teaching assistants and fellow KS2 teachers to ensure consistency and progression across the phase.
You will also play a key role in supporting pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them build confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the Year 3 curriculum
Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
Differentiate learning to support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND and EAL
Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for learning
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues
Communicate clearly with parents and carers about pupil progress
Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and CPD opportunities
Support pupils in developing independence and responsibility for their learning
Who We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
A qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experienced in Key Stage 2, ideally with Year 3 or lower KS2 experience
Confident in delivering engaging lessons in literacy, numeracy, and the wider curriculum
Organised, reflective, and proactive in their approach to teaching
Skilled in classroom management and differentiation
Committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Willing to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply and will receive mentoring and guidance to support their development.
What the School Offers
Supportive and approachable leadership
A collaborative and experienced Key Stage 2 team
Well-resourced classrooms and structured planning support
Ongoing professional development opportunities
Pupils who are motivated and engaged in learning
A positive school culture that values staff wellbeing
