Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to work within a group of special schools in Northolt and Uxbridge. These educational settings support children and young adults with a broad range of learning disabilities, including autism, physical disabilities, and sensory needs.

In this role, you will provide specialist assessment, intervention, and support to help students develop essential communication skills and access their learning environment more effectively. You’ll work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team across both school sites, delivering a mix of 1:1 therapy, group sessions, and classroom-based support.

This position is ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with a strong background in paediatrics, special educational needs (SEN), and autism spectrum conditions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver specialist speech and language therapy services to children and young people with a range of complex needs including autism, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments.

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop individualised therapy plans.

  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and other professionals to support communication across educational and home settings.

  • Provide input in multidisciplinary meetings, annual reviews, and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.

  • Document therapy goals, progress, and outcomes in line with clinical and legal standards.

  • Provide advice, strategies, and resources to support staff in embedding communication approaches into daily school routines.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • Experience working with children and young people with complex needs in a special school or SEN setting.

  • Knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, and alternative communication approaches (e.g., PECS, AAC).

  • Strong teamworking, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • A flexible and innovative approach to therapy delivery in an educational environment.
