We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and professional Office Manager to join a busy and welcoming primary school in Barking, starting ASAP. This is a pivotal role for someone who can manage the day-to-day operations of the school office, supporting staff, pupils, and parents while ensuring smooth administrative processes.

The school values teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication, and the Office Manager plays a key role in maintaining a professional and well-functioning environment. You will be responsible for coordinating administrative tasks, supervising office staff, and supporting the leadership team in the smooth running of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the school office

  • Supervise and support office and administrative staff

  • Maintain accurate pupil records, including attendance, admissions, and contact details

  • Manage communications with parents, staff, and external agencies

  • Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and school events

  • Monitor and manage office supplies and equipment

  • Support the Headteacher and senior leadership team with administrative tasks

  • Ensure compliance with school policies, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations

  • Coordinate reports, letters, and newsletters as required

  • Promote a professional, welcoming, and organised office environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience in school administration or office management

  • Be highly organised, efficient, and proactive

  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

  • Be IT literate and confident with school management and office systems

  • Be able to work independently and lead a small administrative team

  • Be committed to safeguarding and supporting a positive school environment
