A vibrant and forward-thinking primary school in Islington is seeking to appoint a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs across Key Stages 1 and 2. This role is ideal for a dedicated individual who is passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful contribution to pupil development.

Our school is proud of its inclusive ethos and strong pastoral support systems. We work collaboratively as a team to ensure that pupils with SEN are fully included in school life and supported to achieve both academically and socially.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted SEN support under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo

  • Deliver structured interventions and adapt learning materials where necessary

  • Support pupils with communication difficulties, sensory needs, and emotional regulation

  • Assist with transitions between activities and lessons

  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to support learning and wellbeing

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASC and SEMH

  • A calm, professional, and patient approach

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to pupil needs
