Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Java.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with the Android platform and ecosystem.

About The Job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. In this role, your goal is that users should be able to seamlessly and effortlessly choose whatever Android device they want, without fear of losing data and precious memories when switching, even when coming from iOS. To fully realize that goal, you will have to develop robust, secure data mobility solutions, and drive app adoption across the Android ecosystem. You will strengthen user’s ability to switch platforms seamlessly and therefore drive adoption of Android.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Transition users data from iOS and help them set up and familiarize themselves with an Android device.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Work on a continual road-map of improvements to this area within an established team.
  • Work on centralized Android solutions which have uses across most OEMs.
