Salary: £85–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
We are currently recruiting a passionate and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in North London , serving the Islington and Haringey communities. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about early childhood development and committed to supporting young learners during their most important developmental years.
About the Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support children aged 3–5 years , helping to create a stimulating, safe, and nurturing learning environment. You will support learning through play, assist with daily routines, and help children develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
The successful candidate will understand the EYFS framework and be confident supporting early literacy, phonics, number development, and communication skills. You will play a key role in helping children settle into school life, develop independence, and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Support children’s learning through structured and play-based activities
Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and number recognition
Help manage transitions, group activities, and carpet time
Provide emotional support and reassurance to children
Support children with additional needs on a one-to-one or small-group basis
Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
Assist with observations, learning journals, and basic record keeping
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and parents
Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
Has experience working in an EYFS or nursery setting
Is patient, calm, and nurturing
Has a strong understanding of child development
Can support children with varying needs and abilities
Is confident working as part of a team
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
Holds (or is willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS
