About the job you're considering

The Applied Innovation Exchange brings together a team of consultants, designers, technologists and researchers, to help some of the world’s largest organisations move from challenging problem statements to innovative real world solutions, and we'd love to hear from you!

We’re a team that is harnessing AI to make speech therapy more accessible, keeping restaurants running smoothly with Generative AI for Burger King, enhancing the broadcast of the Women’s Rugby World Cup with Generative AI and much more.

In summary, our team does market-leading, exciting, varied work with amazing clients and we'd love you to join us.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including:
identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)

Your role

The Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) exists to create a world where everyone can apply innovation to create a positive future.

We're on a mission to create the products, services and systems that empower some of the world's largest organisations to drive meaningful change in the world. We do this through a high-impact, human centred approach, combining our expertise in collaboration with our ecosystem partners and the breadth of Capgemini to create solutions enabled by emerging technologies.

We work with clients across the spectrum of sectors that Capgemini is involved in: Customer Products and Retail, Transport, Manufacturing, Telecom, Public Sector, Financial Services and Energy and Utilities.

We are a tightly knit team where attitude is as important as aptitude. Underpinning our vision is a shared importance in an inclusive culture and ability to make a positive impact.

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini building an inclusive future is part of everyday life and will be part of your working reality. We have built a representative and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Your skills and experience

  • Full-Stack JavaScript engineer with experience and confidence with at least one modern framework (e.g. React, Angular, Web Components)
  • Someone who takes pride in their craft and focuses on outcomes and user need.
  • Comfortable and excited about uncertainty. We start with user problems, not technical specs!
  • Someone who embraces the unknown, is resourceful with solving new problems and doesn’t shy away from learning new technologies and skills.
  • An end-to-end engineer, comfortable and experienced deploying to cloud environments (e.g. GCP, Azure, AWS + CI/CD)
  • Comfort working in environments with obscure and open-ended challenges, rapidly de-risking and gathering insight needed to set a clear direction.

What makes you stand out

  • A person with passion for new technologies and an awareness of new technology trends, with a desire to experiment and learn - turning trends into reality.
  • Experience of emerging technologies such as Generative AI, AI/ML, IoT or Immersive - any hands-on examples of developing or integrating these technologies to digital solutions is a plus
  • A portfolio or some examples of your work, we'd love to see something you’ve built!
  • An aspirational engineer, who seeks to take ownership of streams within projects, collaborates with others to drive outcomes, and contributes their perspective to technical and overall project direction.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort engaging with and understanding stakeholders, helping to translate user need into technical direction.

Your security clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.
There are other criteria and check required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.

What does 'Get The Future You Want' mean for you?

You will reimagine what’s possible: creating value for the world’s leading organisations through technology to build a sustainable, more inclusive future. You will be empowered to explore, innovate, and progress. You will benefit from Capgemini’s ‘learning for life’ mindset, meaning you will have countless training and development opportunities from thinktanks to hackathons, and access to 250,000 courses with numerous external certifications from AWS, Microsoft, Harvard ManageMentor, Cybersecurity qualifications and much more.
