Feltham, Greater London

Primeflight Engineering, a subsidiary of PrimeFlight Aviation, is a leading independent provider of specialist equipment services to the aviation sector. With over 30 years of industry expertise, we are committed to delivering dependable, cost-effective, and responsive solutions. Our highly skilled teams, strong OEM partnerships, and global Part 145 certifications (CAA, CAAS, EASA, FAA) underpin our reputation for quality, compliance, and innovation.

We are looking for someone to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of PrimeFlight Engineering’s production and maintenance units, ensuring efficient, compliant, and profitable delivery of services. The Operations Manager will support the MD by managing operational performance, resource allocation, cost control, and continuous improvement, with direct responsibility for achieving operational KPIs and P&L targets.

Role Responsibilities:

Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Plan and manage the production and maintenance schedule in line with commercial objectives and customer requirements.

  • Drive productivity by optimising resource utilisation (labour, materials, tools, and equipment).

  • Liaise with procurement and supply chain functions to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.

  • Ensure production plans support business growth, margin improvement, and operational excellence.

Financial & Commercial Accountability

  • Full accountability for the operational P&L of the production unit, working to agreed budgets and targets.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost control and resource optimisation.

  • Monitor and report on production-related financial performance, including cost variances and margin impact.

  • Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities through improved processes, supplier negotiations, and lean initiatives.

Performance, Quality & Compliance

  • Set and monitor KPIs across output, quality, cost, and delivery performance; address variances proactively.

  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements (CAA, EASA, FAA, CAAS).

  • Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and repair schedules to support uptime and reliability.

  • Maintain rigorous quality assurance and control systems, driving continuous improvement across all processes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-skilled production team to deliver high performance and accountability.

  • Set clear objectives, conduct regular reviews, and manage performance in line with company expectations.

  • Identify training needs and collaborate with internal partners to deliver effective development programs.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Foster a culture of safety and compliance; ensure all activities are conducted in line with health & safety policies.

  • Proactively manage risks and promote a continuous improvement approach to safe working practices.

  • Liaising with the Lead in Health & Safety and Compliance

Regulatory (Part 145) Responsibilities

  • Ensure all repair and maintenance work is carried out in accordance with approved specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Act as the nominated person (Form 4 holder) or be eligible to hold the role.

  • Collaborate with Compliance Monitoring and Training departments to uphold competence, documentation, and procedural compliance.

What were looking for?

  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or assembly environment, ideally with regulatory exposure.

  • Demonstrated P&L responsibility and commercial understanding within an operational or production setting.

  • Strong background in resource planning, production scheduling, and process improvement.

  • Experience working under Part 145, or similar regulated environments, is highly desirable.

  • CAA Form 4 eligibility or prior holding of the designation is advantageous.

Skills

  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets, costs, and operational margins.

  • Results-oriented leadership with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation.

  • High level of attention to detail with a commitment to operational excellence and compliance.

  • Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to lead under pressure, adapt to change, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
