A well-regarded secondary school in Wimbledon is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead their facilities team ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent role responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and security of the school site, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-functioning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

About the Role

The Premises Manager will lead the site team in maintaining all aspects of the school’s physical environment. This role is central to the smooth running of school operations, ensuring that buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and compliant with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school premises and grounds.

  • Leading and supervising the site team, including caretakers and cleaners.

  • Overseeing health and safety compliance, risk assessments, and statutory checks.

  • Managing security, including access control, CCTV monitoring, and key allocation.

  • Planning and coordinating maintenance and refurbishment projects.

  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and external service providers.

  • Supporting the setup and breakdown of school events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.

  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.

  • Ensuring compliance with school policies, health and safety legislation, and regulatory standards.

  • Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of facilities management processes.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant experience in facilities management, caretaking, or premises management, ideally within a school or educational setting.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.

  • Practical skills in maintenance and building management.

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional, proactive, and reliable approach.

  • Strong communication skills for liaising with staff, contractors, and external stakeholders.
