Team Lead, Bridges & Structures - London
Your impact
As the Associate Director (Team Lead) you will be a key member of our Bridges & Structures capability. You’ll help lead our transformation into a solutions-focused provider, leveraging new technologies, digital processes, and lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and deliver greater value to our clients. With a strong focus on sustainability and decarbonisation, you’ll apply your advanced technical engineering, interpersonal, and organisational skills to support the delivery of bridges & structures solutions across highways, rail, aviation, energy, and power sectors.
About the opportunity
This role offers a pivotal opportunity to shape both people and performance within a collaborative, high-impact environment. As a key member of the capability, you will work closely with senior leadership, fellow Team Leads and cross-functional partners to drive alignment, strengthen delivery, and support the growth of the business. This position places a strong emphasis on people leadership, requiring a visible and engaged presence in the London office to foster connection, champion a positive and inclusive culture, and support the development of a high-performing team. You will play a central role in nurturing talent through mentorship and career development, while also contributing to the effective running of the business through resourcing, recruitment, retention and investment decisions. Alongside this, you will ensure excellence in project delivery, promote consistent standards, and play an active role in managing risk and upholding our commitment to health, safety, welfare and the environment—making this a well-rounded leadership opportunity with meaningful influence across people, projects and performance.
Key deliverables: (not limited to)
- Delivering for our clients – ensuring project delivery excellence and standardisation, championing our culture and contributing to risk management.
- Achieve team contribution to the Business Plan.
- Drive office attendance through creative initiatives.
- Drive local recruitment in line with the Bridges and Structures Capability recruitment plan and contribution to strategic long -term resource planning.
- Drive innovation by identifying and implementing data-driven, automated, and standardised solutions to improve project efficiency and productivity.
Our Bridges & Structures capability sits within Jacobs’ wider Transportation business, where we take pride in delivering technically complex schemes both in the UK and internationally. Our team has built a strong reputation through a portfolio of high-profile projects with clients including: High Speed 2, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, National Contractors & Local Authorities.
Here's what you'll need
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline)
- A professional qualification ICE/IStructE Chartered or equivalent
- Excellent report writing, collaboration and time management skills
- Either project and/or discipline management and leadership skills related to bridge design (or other disciplines)
- And/or strong technical design and practical problem-solving skills
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in major crossings and/or projects, rail, asset management, structures renewals and post-tensioned structures, including post-tensioned special inspections (PTSI).
