Trade Marketing Manager (6 Month Contract)
About The Role
The Trade Marketing role provides intelligent and distinctive communications across a variety of channels that support TMG’s commercial growth. These communications promote The Telegraph’s brand, journalism, audiences, products and commercial opportunities to client marketing directors and media agency planners and buyers.
Being a premium publisher, operating in an extremely competitive commercial market, we are looking for someone who appreciates the power of good marketing and is able to help translate business problems into inspiring communications and events that are on brand and raise desire.
This is a six-month senior position for someone who is available to start immediately and has a proven experience for producing digital marketing assets including email newsletters and social posts, plus running events from ideation and invitations to on-the-day logistics and post event follow ups.
Key Responsibilities
We have an ambitious plan of communications, launches and events for 2026 and need help across these four areas:
Creating well-attended, useful and memorable events. This involves working with key stakeholders to establish an event’s purpose. Plus full responsibility for writing the promotional communications, pulling together the event content and follow up material.
Using a range of marketing techniques to launch our new self service advertising platform for small businesses. This will include:
- Helping to define the customer journey on the new platform. How we frame our proposition and make it easy to buy.
- Establishing how best to reach the platform’s target audience.
- Building a series of communications that will launch the opportunity, deliver sales, celebrate success and foster growth.
Email newsletters: Responsible for the writing and production of monthly email communications to promote opportunities across our key client sectors.
Management of our Trade Marketing Executive who supports our events programme, hospitality opportunities and is responsible for our social media output.
Requirements
- Proven ability to produce successful digital marketing collateral and live events.
- Idea generator: This is key to being able to translate our business challenges into marketing successes. To do this well you will also need a broad understanding of what is happening in the world, the media industry and an ability to identify exciting new trends.
- Creative flair: It is important to have an appreciation of good design and the power of timely, well-executed communications in driving brand differentiation.
- Customer experience: We are a customer facing team renowned for hosting quality events, so experience of hospitality or customer management is essential.
- Attention to detail: The Telegraph is a premium publisher trusted for its accuracy and authority – attributes that we must adhere too. In marketing it is also the little details that help us to stand out, really get us noticed and are appreciated and remembered.
- Strong writing and communication skills: These are necessary to be able to produce externally facing copy that represents our brand. Plus, communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-starter: The media industry is fast paced and the sales floor is busy with tight turn-around times. To be successful you need to be able to take ownership of projects, prioritise activities, be tenacious, flexible and proactive.
