Junior Technical Designer

We are an established UK workplace design and build business delivering high-quality commercial interiors and workplace environments.

Our multidisciplinary team works across workplace consultancy, space planning, interior design, technical design and construction, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

Role Overview

The Junior Technical Designer will support the development of creative concepts into practical, coordinated and buildable technical solutions.

Working alongside senior designers and the wider project team, you will assist with technical design, drawing production and project delivery across commercial workplace and interior projects. This is an opportunity to develop your technical and construction knowledge within a fast-paced design environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce and develop technical drawings, layouts and details using Revit and AutoCAD.

Support technical design development from concept through to construction.

Assist with technical drawing packages for tender and construction.

Support coordination of design information with MEP, structural and specialist consultants.

Attend design and technical coordination meetings.

Assist with resolving technical and coordination issues.

Support project and site teams with technical information and RFIs.

Assist with shop drawing reviews, design changes and as-built information.

Maintain accurate, coordinated and well-presented technical documentation.

Develop knowledge of construction detailing, materials, buildability and UK Building Regulations.

Work closely with senior designers and take responsibility for allocated tasks and deadlines.

Essential Experience & Skills

Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

1–3 years' relevant experience in technical design, architecture or interiors.

Commercial interior or workplace experience is essential.

Good working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is essential.

Good understanding of technical drawing and construction detailing.

Good understanding of materials, finishes and construction processes.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.

Desirable

Design & build experience.

Commercial workplace or office fit-out experience.

Experience working within a BIM environment.

Experience with a Common Data Environment such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Awareness of BREEAM, WELL or LEED.

Exposure to construction sites and project delivery.

Understanding of CDM 2015 and UK Building Regulations.
