Science Technician
A successful Secondary School in the London Borough of Havering is seeking a dedicated and organised Science Technician to support its thriving Science department on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for practical science who enjoys supporting teachers and inspiring students through engaging laboratory work. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics are delivered safely and efficiently.
Working alongside the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare practical experiments, equipment and chemicals for lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will ensure laboratories are organised, fully stocked and maintained to the highest standard while supporting teachers with demonstrations and practical investigations.
Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering consumables, monitoring stock levels, maintaining COSHH documentation and ensuring chemicals are stored, handled and disposed of safely. You will also carry out routine equipment checks, prepare practical examination materials and assist with STEM enrichment activities, science fairs and open evenings.

The successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent practical knowledge and a proactive approach to supporting outstanding science education.

Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable
Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
Excellent organisational skills
Strong practical science knowledge
Ability to prepare and maintain specialist equipment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to supporting outstanding science education
