Hybrid Home & London

Saga has begun an exciting Technology Transformation Journey. We are seeking an expert in infrastructure to join us internally as our Technical Lead Infrastructure.

Reporting to our Head of Infrastructure Operations, you will take full responsibility for all the outsourced infrastructure estate, reviewing designs, validating controls and escalating risk to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

This role does not build or deliver infrastructure services, but ensures technical integrity, coherence and risk transparency across a newly outsourced estate.

We work in a hybrid way at Saga, balancing time at home with time together in the office. This team will meet in person about once a month. Coming into the office is an important part of how we work together, giving us the opportunity to connect with our teams, collaborate face-to-face, share ideas and build relationships.

Role Responsibility

The Technical Lead Infrastructure is responsible for the following areas across the Saga Technology estate;

To produce the standards and best practices for cloud, network, servers, storage, and infrastructure platforms and ensure that the partner follows these standards.

Act as a technical expert to review the quality and completeness of infrastructure design documentation, implementation, and testing plans.

Monitor consistently for any infrastructure risks and ensure that they are assessed, documented and shared.

Testing, proving, and ensuring that the company's IT systems can survive a major failure without losing data.

Be seen internally and externally as the go-to infrastructure expert when critical technology systems fail or degrade and will act as the primary technical advisor to the major incident management team.

Provide assurance that the infrastructure remains fully supported, adopting best practice and working with the partner to ensure all systems are maintained.

Work with the partner to ensure that they are fully competent in the management and maintenance of the infrastructure.

Be the technical gatekeeper and critical reviewer for our partners and actively interrogate their engineering choices and designs using best practice and company standards.

Be the bridge between infrastructure teams and corporate governance teams to ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and affordable.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience;

Exposure to enterprise infrastructure environments across cloud and hybrid platforms.

Previously been involved in reviewing and assessing infrastructure designs within governance frameworks.

Ideally worked in complex operating models, such as with an outsourced partner or hybrid delivery model.

Has proven experience identifying infrastructure technical risk and resilience gaps.

Experience contributing to infrastructure transformation initiatives.

Experience engaging with senior technical stakeholders across architecture, security and operations domains.

Deep technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS), networking, compute and platform services.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical detail into structured recommendations.

Ability to operate effectively under pressure, particularly during major incident scenarios.

Desirable;

We are keen to speak to candidates with knowledge across cloud, compute, network and storage. Here at Saga, we use a large number of products across our varied customer facing operation, giving this role holder a wide scope to manage and oversee.
