English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutor

Are you passionate about helping students develop the academic English and study skills they need to succeed in higher education?

We are looking for confident and approachable English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutors to join our Library & Learning Skills team at our London Bloomsbury campus. In this rewarding role, you will deliver English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and assessment literacy support both in person and online to students studying a range of subjects, including Law, Business and Management, Criminology, Psychology and Computer Science.

We have three full-time opportunities available.

This is a hybrid role. Most of your working week will be spent on campus delivering engaging face-to-face teaching and supporting students in the classroom. The successful candidate will be confident delivering EAP and academic skills sessions to small groups, providing in-class support alongside academic colleagues, and facilitating engaging online learning. You will also enjoy creating high-quality, self-directed learning resources that enhance the student experience.

As one of our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutors, you will:

  • Deliver timetabled EAP and academic skills sessions on campus, facilitating small-group learning and providing hands-on support to students throughout their learning journey.

  • Design and deliver a range of EAP and assessment literacy interventions, including one-to-one appointments, workshops, webinars and self-directed learning resources.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Faculty and Library & Learning Skills to develop, deliver and evaluate an impactful programme of student learning support.

Is this you?

  • A recognised qualification in English language teaching (such as CELTA, DELTA, TESOL, TEFL or another relevant EAP qualification).

  • Experience designing and delivering English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and academic skills support through a variety of teaching methods.

  • The ability to facilitate engaging, student-centred learning and adapt your teaching style to meet diverse learner needs.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.

  • A proactive approach, using your initiative to solve problems and continuously improve the student learning experience.

Please submit a supporting statement outlining the skills and experience that make you suitable for this role, together with your reasons for applying.

Please note the internal title for this role is Student Learning Skills Specialist . Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 31 August .

Why join us?

  • A generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days plus bank holidays .

  • Access to a wide range of staff and student discount platforms.

  • Private Medical Scheme and Life Assurance.

  • Contributory Pension Scheme.
