We are looking to hire a Lead Game Client Developer to join our talented team. You will be a key player in the development and delivery of our industry-leading online slot games, blending hands-on development with technical leadership and mentoring.
Location: Hybrid in UK (London) or Poland (Warsaw).
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.
What you'll be doing:
- Development of games in TypeScript and PixiJS for mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers, ensuring high performance and a seamless user experience across all devices.
- Leading a small team of game client developers, providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Driving architectural and technical decisions for the client-side game architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and quality of the codebase.
- Implementing complex game logic, including reel mechanics and special features for new slot titles.
- Collaborating closely with Game Mathematicians, Designers, QA Engineers, and Backend Developers to accurately translate game specifications and art assets into a functional and engaging product.
- Optimising game performance for various browsers and devices, focusing on memory management, frame rate stability, and fast loading times.
- Integrating with the backend platform using REST APIs, managing game state, and handling secure transactions/data exchange.
- Mentoring junior and mid-level developers, helping them to improve their technical skills and understand best practices in game development.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our development processes, tools, and best practices.
- Debugging and resolving complex issues reported internally or live from production environments.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience in a similar level role is required. You might be an existing Lead looking for a new challenge, or a high performing Senior looking for a step up into a Lead position.
- You will need a strong grounding and background in software development - whether that's from iGaming, video games, or elsewhere.
- Proven ability to lead a development team and drive technical projects to completion.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and software architecture.
- Expertise in Object-oriented JavaScript / TypeScript.
- Proficiency with software design patterns and their application in game development.
- Strong Math and Physics skills relevant to implementing game logic and animations (e.g., reel stops, trajectories).
- Experience with Pixi.js / Phaser.js or a similar HTML5 game engine.
- Experience with Spine or other 2D skeletal animation tools.
- Familiarity with the WebGL API and rendering pipelines is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of the HTML5 Canvas API.
- Proficiency with Git, distributed version control, and branching strategies.
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Jira / ClickUp.
- Basic understanding of DOM, CSS for supporting UI/UX elements outside the canvas, if necessary.
