London Fitzrovia | London Wimbledon | Nottingham

Please read the full advert before applying, answer all screening questions thoroughly and provide a CV. We sadly cannot consider incomplete applications.

Engineer a Better Society

We’re looking for the next generation of change-makers and enquiring minds to join us in Engineering a Better Society.

At Elliott Wood, we believe engineering can do more than solve technical problems. It can improve the places we live, work and connect, while helping address some of the biggest challenges facing people and our planet.

We are engineers and built environment professionals driven by the idea of Better. We inspire clients and organisations to think differently about their spaces – not just aesthetically and commercially, but in terms of the benefit they can bring to people and the planet.

As an Elliott Wood Graduate, you’ll work on diverse and exciting projects, from art installations and community spaces to award-winning buildings and masterplans. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals across the built environment while bringing your own ideas and perspective to the table.

We are a B Corp Certified practice, committed to high standards of social and environmental performance. From the Structural Carbon Tool we developed with IStructE to our collaborative workspace at The Society Building , we believe in backing up our ambitions with action.

Challenging the Way We Engineer

At Elliott Wood, we ask difficult questions: What kind of society do we want to live in? What can we do to address the climate emergency? What will be our engineering legacy?

Our ETHICS framework – Energy, Technology, Health, Infrastructure, Culture and Sustainability – helps us explore these challenges and rethink how we approach engineering and the built environment.

As the next generation of engineers and sustainability professionals, you’ll have the opportunity to challenge convention, explore new ideas and help shape what comes next.

Our Graduate Programme & Academy

Our Graduate Programme builds on what you’ve learned at university and complements it with practical skills, project experience and new perspectives.

From day one, you’ll be involved in real projects, working alongside experienced engineers and sustainability consultants. You’ll gain exposure to different project types, disciplines and stages of design, from early concepts and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.

Our Graduate Academy will support your technical and professional development through training, mentoring, career conversations and opportunities to work towards your professional qualification.

What will you do?

We’re looking for Structural Engineers to join our 2027 Graduate Programme.

Structural Engineer

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you’ll help design and deliver a wide range of projects, from community spaces and refurbishments to complex developments.

You’ll develop your technical skills through design, calculations, drawings and site visits, working closely with architects, clients, sustainability consultants and other engineers.

You’ll get involved in:

  • Developing structural designs, calculations and drawings

  • Working with different disciplines to develop practical design solutions

  • Supporting projects from early concepts through to construction

  • Visiting sites and seeing your designs come to life

  • Exploring innovative and lower-carbon approaches to structural design

  • Working on refurbishment, retrofit and new-build projects

  • Developing your technical skills and working towards professional qualification

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for curious, creative and ambitious people who want to make a difference and are excited about rethinking how engineering and sustainability can shape the built environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or built environment degree

  • An interest in how the built environment can positively impact people and the planet

  • An enquiring mind and willingness to ask questions, challenge ideas and learn

  • The ability to research, analyse and solve problems, as well as communicate ideas through writing, drawings, presentations or conversation

  • A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working across disciplines

  • The drive to develop your technical and professional skills

You don’t need to have all the answers. We’re interested in people who are curious, willing to learn and excited about making a difference.

Eligibility

This programme is for students graduating in 2027 who are available to start a permanent role in September 2027.

You must have the right to work full-time in the UK.

When applying, please select your preferred location and discipline.

What we offer

  • Hybrid working

  • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays

  • Monthly health & wellbeing allowance

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Training and development through our Graduate Academy

  • Enhanced employer pension contributions

  • Health insurance

  • Health cash plan

  • Discretionary bonus scheme

  • Opportunity to be gifted up to four ‘Me Days’ when company targets are met

  • Regular career and development conversations

  • Support towards professional qualification and continued professional development

Why Elliott Wood?

We’re not interested in doing things simply because that’s how they’ve always been done.

We want to understand why, ask better questions and find new ways to create positive change through engineering and sustainability.

You’ll join a team that cares about the quality of its work, the impact it has and the people it works with. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful projects and shape the future of our practice.

If you want to be inspired, involved and challenged, we’d love to hear from you.

Interested?

Tell us why you want to join Elliott Wood, what interests you about your chosen discipline and what you could bring to our team.

Please apply for the role you are interested via the link below and answer all screening questions thoroughly as well as providing a CV. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

We welcome applications from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.

We’d love to hear from you.
