Content Editor in City of London
Job description
Content Editor – 7 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Hybrid, London – City
Full time, Fixed Term
Salary: £37,000-£40,000 per annum
Our mission
The overarching purpose of the Chartered Insurance Institute (‘the Institute’) is to educate and support our members to deliver services to the highest professional standards and to advocate for the public good. By doing this the Institute builds and maintains public trust in the insurance, financial planning, and mortgage advice professions.
Our vision
Our vision is that CII and PFS professionals build a world which delivers ever greater financial resilience for individuals and societies more broadly.
Your role
As a Content Editor, you’ll play a key role in shaping high-quality learning materials that support both qualification and CPD objectives. Working closely with subject matter experts, you’ll ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with pedagogic principles across print and digital formats.
You’ll manage multiple projects, maintaining timelines and collaborating with authors, reviewers, and internal teams to deliver effective learning solutions. Your editorial expertise will be essential in refining content, integrating multimedia assets, and using XML-based tools to produce structured outputs.
Beyond content creation, you’ll support learners directly by addressing complex queries and enhancing their experience. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to evolve editorial processes and explore innovative approaches using emerging technologies.
This is an opportunity to apply your analytical skills in a collaborative environment where your work directly supports the organisation’s goals and long-term sustainability.
You
- You’re a confident editor with a sharp eye for detail, ensuring content is accurate, consistent, and learner-focused across both print and digital formats.
- You thrive in managing multiple projects and deadlines, balancing quality control with efficient delivery, guided by clear priorities.
- You’re comfortable working with subject matter experts, and can guide them to produce clear, structured learning content.
- You bring experience in educational publishing or professional bodies, with a solid understanding of syllabus-driven content and learner needs.
- You’re adaptable with editing tools—whether working in Word or content management systems like Hereto—and open to learning new platforms.
- You take initiative in improving processes and enjoy contributing to the development of engaging study texts and e-learning materials.
Your benefits
In addition to a market-benchmarked base salary, here are some of the benefits you can expect from the CII as a valued colleague:
- 10% non-contributory pension
- 30 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata)
- Healthcare cash plan
- Life assurance
- Modern office space located in 20 Fenchurch Street (Walkie-Talkie) with free Sky Garden access and discounts
