HR Manager | Outstanding Secondary School | Barnet
A successful Outstanding secondary school in Barnet is looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to lead its HR function from September 2026.
This is a senior support position for an HR professional who enjoys working closely with leadership teams, supporting staff and ensuring robust HR processes are in place. You'll have responsibility across the employee lifecycle and play an important role in maintaining a positive, professional working environment.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the school's day-to-day HR provision, working closely with senior leaders and line managers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing recruitment and onboarding processes
Advising managers on HR policies and employee relations
Supporting absence, performance and capability procedures
Overseeing safer recruitment and pre-employment checks
Maintaining the Single Central Record and employee records
Liaising with payroll regarding starters, leavers and contractual changes
Supporting staff wellbeing and employee engagement
Reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
Preparing HR reports and workforce information
Ensuring HR processes remain compliant with current legislation
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have previous experience as an HR Manager, Senior HR Officer or HR Advisor, with a strong understanding of UK employment practices.
Education experience would be beneficial, particularly knowledge of safer recruitment and school HR processes, but candidates with strong transferable experience from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
You'll need excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the confidence to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
