Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Our client is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a Residential Children’s Home in Hays. You will help lead the team, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and ensure the home meets all statutory requirements under the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards .
You will contribute to staff supervision, rota planning, safeguarding practice, record-keeping, and daily operational oversight. In the Registered Manager’s absence, you will step into full management responsibilities, ensuring the home remains compliant, child-centred, and effectively staffed. The role requires flexibility, leadership presence, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care for children with complex needs.
Requirements
Essential Experience & Compliance
Experience specifically within a residential children’s home .
Strong understanding of Ofsted expectations and safeguarding procedures.
Ability to work beyond standard regulated hours , including on-call duties.
Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to complete one.
No immigration restrictions — unrestricted working hours required.
Ability to commute reliably to Hays or live within a reasonable distance.
Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) — must already hold, be working towards, or be willing to complete (mandatory).
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) — desirable or willingness to work towards.

Completion of a pre-assessment before interview.
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to uphold professional boundaries and maintain high standards of practice.
