Caretaker - Lambeth
A well-run primary school in Lambeth is recruiting a dependable Caretaker to start January 2026. The appointed Caretaker will be responsible for site security, routine maintenance, daily checks and ensuring that the school environment is safe, clean and presentable. This Caretaker post in Lambeth includes a full induction and handover scheduled before January 2026, with the Caretaker in post from January 2026 and supported during the spring term.

The Caretaker role in Lambeth includes daily opening and closing procedures, health & safety checks, basic repairs, and coordinating contractors for specialist work. The Caretaker will maintain external grounds, clear paths, manage waste and recycling routines, and support lettings and onsite events. The Lambeth site values a practical Caretaker who can prioritise tasks, respond to site issues promptly and keep accurate maintenance logs.
Responsibilities
Carry out daily opening/closing duties and routine site-security checks.
Complete minor repairs and basic maintenance tasks to keep the site operational.
Monitor plant, heating and lighting systems and report faults to contractors.
Maintain grounds, remove hazards and ensure safe access routes around the Lambeth site.
Prepare spaces for lettings and events and support emergency response procedures.
Person specification
Proven practical experience in caretaking, facilities or premises maintenance.
Competent with general maintenance work (joinery, decorating, basic plumbing/electrics) and health & safety awareness.
Organised, reliable and able to work independently across the Lambeth premises.
Willing to attend induction and handover before January 2026 and able to commence in post from January 2026.
