Registered Manager for Children's Home
Registered Manager – Children’s Home (London)
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Manager to lead a 3‑bed children’s home in London. The role is perfect for professionals who are passionate about delivering high‑quality care for young people aged 11‑17 with challenging behaviour and who share our commitment to creating a positive, growth‑focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for the delivery of high‑quality care to all residents.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the home’s continuous improvement.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations, including staff rostering, supervision, mentoring and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000 and current Children’s Home Regulations.
- Coordinate with external agencies and professionals to secure appropriate services for each young person.
- Facilitate care‑focused training and professional development for staff.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the best outcomes for each child.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 2‑3 years of management experience in a children’s home or similar setting.
- Proven experience working with young people (11‑17) who exhibit challenging behaviour.
- NVQ Level 5 in Management (or equivalent) and at least NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000 and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, staff‑development and organisational abilities.
- Eligibility for approval by the relevant statutory body (e.g., Ofsted).
Working Conditions
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week with a self‑managed rota (including evenings, weekends and occasional night shifts).
- Six‑month probationary period.
- 28 days annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays).
- Government workplace pension scheme (available after successful probation).
- Company‑provided mobile phone.
- Local parking permit.
- Three‑month notice period from either side (excluding disciplinary or malpractice situations).
- Enhanced DBS check required for successful candidates.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary £52,000, with potential earnings up to £58,600 through performance bonuses.
- Ofsted bonuses: £3,000 for an Outstanding rating, £1,500 for a Good rating.
- Full‑occupancy bonus: £300 per month.
- £3,000 car allowance **or** a company car valued at £5,400 per year.
- Pension contribution, mobile phone, and parking permit.
