Nursery Teacher - Eltham

Marchant Recruitment
London

We are seeking a warm, committed, and enthusiastic Nursery Teacher to join a welcoming and well-established primary school in Eltham, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children at the very beginning of their educational journey, supporting their development in a nurturing, engaging, and well-structured early years environment.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Nursery class, delivering high-quality provision in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. The school places a strong emphasis on child-centred learning, inclusion, and positive relationships, and is seeking a teacher who understands the importance of early development and learning through play.

You will be joining a supportive Early Years team that values collaboration, shared planning, and reflective practice. Senior leadership is approachable and committed to staff development, ensuring teachers feel supported and confident in their role.

The Role

As a Nursery Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that support children’s development across all areas of the EYFS. You will create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children feel confident to explore, communicate, and learn. Observation and assessment will play a key role in your practice, enabling you to track progress and plan meaningful next steps.

You will work closely with nursery practitioners and teaching assistants to ensure consistency and high-quality provision. Building positive relationships with parents and carers will also be essential, supporting children’s learning both in school and at home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Nursery provision in line with the EYFS

  • Create a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress accurately

  • Use assessment to inform planning and next steps

  • Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and communication skills

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching in Nursery or Early Years

  • Have a strong understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement

  • Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusion

Early Career Teachers with a strong interest in Early Years are welcome to apply and will receive mentoring and support.

Why Join This School?

  • Supportive and experienced Early Years team

  • Well-resourced indoor and outdoor learning environments

  • Opportunities for professional development and training

  • Leadership that values staff wellbeing

  • A positive, inclusive, and child-centred ethos

  • Engaged families and a supportive school community

Location

The school is located in Eltham, with good transport links and a strong sense of community. Staff benefit from a professional, welcoming, and supportive working environment.

How to Apply

To apply, please forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, clearly outlining your experience and suitability for the role.

Start Date: ASAP
