We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Property Care team, supporting the delivery of special projects for a portfolio of long-standing clients across London and the South East.
These projects typically arise from our ongoing maintenance and property care relationships and involve the refurbishment, alteration, extension and improvement of existing buildings. Projects range from building fabric repairs to extensions, remodelling works, fit-outs and the construction of new ancillary buildings.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for multiple projects from initial enquiry through to final account, working closely with operational teams and clients to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably. You will play a key role in maintaining and strengthening trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities for future work.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Prepare cost plans, estimates, tender submissions, budgets and cash flow forecasts.
Procure and manage subcontractor and supplier packages, including tendering, negotiation and contract administration.
Monitor project performance, identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
Produce accurate valuations, applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
Ensure robust cost control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Work collaboratively with operational teams to provide commercial support and strategic advice.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
Support the identification, pricing and conversion of additional project opportunities within existing client portfolios.
Ensure contractual compliance and provide guidance on contract administration and dispute avoidance.
Mentor and support junior commercial team members where appropriate.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and best practice across the business.
About You
Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector.
Experience managing a diverse range of projects, including refurbishment, alterations, extensions and building improvement works.
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of successfully managing project costs, risks and profitability.
Excellent understanding of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in subcontract procurement, negotiation and supply chain management.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and add value for clients.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and excellent financial reporting skills.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, with MRICS or working towards chartership desirable.
Experience of luxury property is beneficial.
